Why can't I build a meat effigy here? It wasn't just that I couldn't place it down, the recipe wasn't working at all.

[ At least he and Demyx got to eat the steaks he collected for that failed attempt, back in... what was it, March? Yeah he totally procrastinated on asking about this. ]

[ Y'know, Demyx's reaction was a lot like that too. ]

A meat effigy. It's a resurrection item, I used to build them all the time in the Constant. I had the theory on Earth, but I wasn't going to throw myself off a roof or something to test it...

[ He takes out a ship-branded notepad and a pen, and draws this thing. ] It takes four boards, which I got from the festival, four handfuls of beard trimmings, a chunk of the user's vitality, and the original recipe called for steaks but I thought I'd managed to eliminate that. I collected some just in case, but it didn't work either way.

[ Wilson makes a face. ]

Ughhh. Doesn't it cost anything to revive us? He was complaining about us letting out all the souls. [ He feels like an unscientific buffoon phrasing it that way but it feels worse to describe the past passengers as 'fuel'. ] Or does it end up in the same place if I'm using wood and meat that he created?

[ The face intensifies. ]

I'm really starting to hate this guy's priorities. It doesn't make a big difference for me since I come back to life either way, but I thought conserving power was kind of important now.

I reason why all the time! [ But, well, the Captain's not here to argue with, and undoubtedly wouldn't be very receptive to persuasion if he was. ]

Okay, not getting sidetracked now that that's been answered, second question. [ He adds his name to the excursion sign-up sheet as he says that, undeterred by the lovingly hand-drawn sad faces. ] This excursion where you die. Should I just clean my inventory out before we get going or is there any chance that I'll get my stuff back if I drop it?

[ You can almost see the gears grinding in his head as he tries to figure out what that means. Maybe it means she's going to collect the passengers' stuff and put it back in their cabins with them, or maybe it's like stepping between worlds through Maxwell's Door and he can't carry anything through the transition from either side. Or, more relevantly, like the Labyrinth. ]

I hope not, since I don't have any way to replace most of it here. You're sure it won't be a problem?

[ He still looks dubious, but she didn't lie to him last time he showed up with a question/complaint even though telling him what he wanted to hear would probably have been easier. So she's probably being as honest as she's allowed to be. ]

And you can't explain why not, right?
